Adobe's Non-Linear Video Editing on the O2 Desktop

AdobeĀ® PremiereTM is optimized on the new Silicon Graphics O2TM desktop workstation to provide a complete open-systems solution for non-linear video editing. Adobe Premiere 4.2 for Silicon Graphics directly accesses the O2 system's integrated video and graphics architectures to perform time-critical functions at hardware speeds. Adobe Premiere 4.2 for Silicon Graphics will be shipping July 1997.

The O2 workstation requires no additional third-party boards for video editing; with all the necessary input/output hardware built into the O2 platform, many of the common problems of assembling all the necessary components with open architecture video solutions are eliminated. Adobe Premiere includes OpenGLĀ® - accelerated versions of its popular transition and special effects plug-ins that will decrease rendering times for these calculation-intensive processes. In addition, Silicon Graphics will provide platform-specific plug-ins for Adobe Premiere to allow users to combine 3D and video content.

screen shot "Adobe is excited about providing its world-class non-linear editing software to a new set of Silicon Graphics customers," said Bryan Lamkin, Adobe's VP of Graphics Products. "The O2 workstation is an excellent platform for Adobe Premiere because of its integrated breakthrough video capabilities. And Adobe Premiere will be a perfect complement to a robust set of applications, including Adobe PhotoshopTM and Adobe IllustratorTM, already available on Silicon Graphics systems."
